The PetSafe Microchip Replacement Flap is a genuine spare flap designed specifically for the PetSafe PPA19-16145 Microchip Cat Flap.

Suitable for both the white and brown versions, this replacement is ideal when the original moving flap has become cracked, badly scratched, damaged or worn but the microchip reader, locking mechanism and main frame are still working correctly.

Instead of replacing the complete electronic cat flap, you can replace just the moving transparent door and keep your existing PetSafe installation in place.

Your existing microchip information is stored within the electronic cat flap rather than the moving transparent door, so replacing the flap does not require you to replace the complete unit.

How to Replace the PetSafe Microchip Flap

The replacement can be carried out with basic tools, although the cat flap needs to be partially dismantled to access the moving door.

1. Carefully remove the screw covers where fitted.
2. Remove the two fixing screws securing the cat flap.
3. Separate the inner section from the outer frame.
4. Place the inner section on a clean, flat work surface.
5. Remove the four crosshead screws from the rear of the unit.
6. Carefully separate the front and rear sections.
7. Take care not to pull, trap or damage the internal cable.
8. Remove the existing damaged flap.
9. Slide the replacement flap into position with the curved edge facing towards the front of the cat flap.
10. Carefully bring the two sections of the unit back together, checking that the internal cable is correctly positioned.
11. Replace and evenly tighten the four crosshead screws.
12. Check that the new flap swings freely.
13. Reinstall the cat flap into the existing opening and replace the fixing screws and covers.

Before allowing your cat to use the door, check that the flap opens and closes freely and that the electronic locking mechanism continues to operate correctly.
