Manual Locking Cat Flaps & Pet Doors

Sometimes the simplest solution is the best. Our manual locking cat flaps and pet doors provide straightforward, reliable access for cats and small dogs without batteries, microchips, collar keys or electronic programming.

These traditional pet doors are an excellent choice when you simply want your pet to come and go freely, with the ability to lock the flap when required. They're affordable, easy to use and available in different sizes, colours and designs to suit a wide range of homes and pets.

Simple Cat Flaps with No Electronics

A manual cat flap operates entirely mechanically. There are no batteries to replace, no microchips to programme and no electronic components to maintain.

Your cat simply pushes the flap to pass through, making this one of the easiest and most economical ways of providing independent access to your home.

Manual Locking Cat Flaps

Our simplest locking pet doors generally provide two basic settings:

  • Open / Unlocked – Allows your pet to enter and leave freely.
  • Locked – Prevents normal entry and exit through the flap.

This makes them particularly useful when your cat normally has unrestricted access but occasionally needs to be kept indoors.

Manual 4-Way Locking Cat Flaps

Some manual cat flaps provide a more advanced 4-way locking system. These give you additional control over whether your cat can enter or leave.

Depending on the individual model, the four settings normally include:

  • In & Out – Your cat can enter and leave freely.
  • In Only – Allows your cat to come home but prevents them going back outside.
  • Out Only – Allows your cat to leave but prevents normal re-entry.
  • Fully Locked – Prevents normal entry and exit.

An in-only setting can be particularly useful when you're waiting for your cat to come home and want them to stay indoors once they return.

Why Choose a Manual Cat Flap?

Manual pet doors remain extremely popular because they're straightforward and dependable. If you don't need selective entry to prevent neighbouring cats coming into your home, an electronic or microchip system may simply be unnecessary.

  • No batteries required
  • No electronic programming
  • No microchip registration
  • No collar key required
  • Simple operation
  • Low maintenance
  • Economical pet access
  • Different sizes and colours available
  • Suitable for cats and selected small dogs

Cat Flaps for Doors

Manual cat flaps are available for installation into many different types of doors and panels, depending on the individual model.

Suitable applications can include:

  • Timber doors
  • Suitable uPVC door panels
  • PVC panels
  • Internal doors
  • Cat houses
  • Outdoor pet shelters
  • Dog kennels

Always check the installation requirements and maximum door thickness shown on the individual product before ordering.

Manual Cat Flaps for uPVC Doors

Many manual cat flaps can be fitted into suitable uPVC door panels. Self-lining models can provide a particularly neat installation because the tunnel covers the cut edge through the panel.

Check both the panel thickness and required cut-out dimensions before installation. If your door contains glass, a replacement glazed unit with a professionally manufactured opening will normally be required rather than cutting the existing glass.

Manual Cat Flaps for Walls

Selected manual cat flaps can also be installed through walls. Depending on the model and wall thickness, this may require additional wall liner or tunnel extensions.

Check whether compatible tunnel extensions are available before ordering if you're planning a wall installation.

Manual Pet Doors for Small Dogs

Some larger manual cat flaps are also suitable for small dogs. These can provide a simple alternative to an electronic dog door when selective entry isn't required.

Always measure your pet and compare their body dimensions with the actual flap opening rather than choosing purely by breed or weight.

Weather-Resistant Everyday Pet Access

For an external door, look for a pet flap designed to cope with normal outdoor conditions. Features can include magnetic flap closures, brush seals and weather-resistant materials to help reduce unwanted draughts.

The level of weather protection varies between products, so compare the features of individual models if insulation and draught reduction are particularly important to you.

Which Manual Cat Flap Should I Choose?

Start by measuring your cat and checking the construction and thickness of the door where the flap will be installed.

Then decide how much control you need. A simple 2-way locking cat flap may be all you need for basic access, while a 4-way locking cat flap provides greater control over when your cat can enter or leave.

If unwanted neighbourhood cats entering your home is a problem, consider one of our microchip or selective-entry cat flaps instead.
