The Irish Oak PetSafe Staywell 740 Medium Dog Flap combines the proven design of the popular Staywell 700 Series with an attractive Irish Oak coloured finish.

Designed for medium and smaller dogs as well as larger cats, the door has a strong rigid clear flap and is supplied with an internal slide-in closing panel and tunnel sections for installation through suitable doors and panels.

Irish Oak Finish – Please Read Before Ordering

This is a professionally sprayed-to-order product and is therefore not returnable.

The original PetSafe door is professionally prepared and sprayed to produce the Irish Oak coloured finish. Because the finish has been applied after manufacture, the sprayed finish is not covered by the PetSafe manufacturer's warranty.

Due to the preparation, spraying and handling process, there may be minor marks or signs of handling. These do not affect the operation or usability of the dog door.

Please note: Irish Oak colours can vary between different manufacturers and products. Screen settings and lighting can also affect how the colour appears online.

The sprayed finish is intended to provide an attractive Irish Oak colour but should not be expected to be an exact match to Irish Oak foiled uPVC, composite doors, window frames or other factory-finished products.

If an exact colour match is essential, please take this into consideration before ordering.

Internal Slide-In Closing Panel

The Staywell 740 is supplied with an internal slide-in panel. This allows you to close the dog flap when you don't want your pet to use it.

It can also be useful during particularly cold or windy weather when you want the pet door completely closed.

Before cutting your door, make sure there is sufficient space above the pet door for the closing panel to be inserted and removed.

Installation

Carefully check all measurements before cutting your door or panel. The required cut-out is approximately 281mm x 237mm.

When cutting the opening, we recommend keeping the hole no more than approximately 2mm larger than the required cut-out. The small remaining gap can then be sealed with a suitable silicone to help provide a neat, weather-resistant installation.

The supplied tunnel sections can be used to line the cut edge of suitable doors and panels. The tunnel sections are best secured using a suitable adhesive such as Stelmax contact adhesive.

A suitable neutral-cure silicone can be used between the pet door and door panel to help provide a weather-resistant seal.

Installing Through a Wall

The Staywell 740 can also be installed through a wall, but additional work and materials will normally be required.

For installations deeper than the supplied tunnel, you will need to create a suitable tunnel lining. Materials such as uPVC soffit board or suitable rigid sheet material can be used to form a neat lining through the opening.

The tunnel should be installed so that water cannot drain towards the inside of the property.

Installing in a Composite Door

The Staywell 740 can be fitted into some composite doors, but the construction and mouldings of the door need to be checked carefully before installation.

Decorative mouldings can interfere with the pet door frame. You must also allow sufficient clearance above the pet door for the internal closing panel to slide upwards.

The exposed edge of a cut composite door should be properly sealed against moisture. Where appropriate, a suitable trim or rigid angle can be fitted around the cut opening to produce a neat, weather-resistant finish.

Alternative for Better Insulation

If thermal performance is particularly important, consider one of our Extreme Weather dog doors. These use a multi-flap design to provide improved insulation compared with a conventional single-flap pet door.

Always compare the overall frame, flap opening and cut-out dimensions before changing to a different model.
