PetSafe Staywell 740 Cream Medium Dog Flap

The PetSafe Staywell 740 Cream Medium Dog Flap is a professionally finished version of the popular Staywell 740, offering a softer cream appearance for matching cream uPVC, composite and painted doors.

Designed for medium and smaller dogs as well as larger cats, the door features a strong rigid clear flap and is supplied with an internal slide-in closing panel and tunnel sections for installation into suitable doors and panels.

Cream Finish – Please Read Before Ordering

This is a professionally sprayed-to-order product and is therefore not returnable.

The original PetSafe Staywell 740 is professionally prepared and sprayed to produce the Cream finish.

Because the colour finish is applied after manufacture, the sprayed finish is not covered by the PetSafe manufacturer's warranty.

During preparation and spraying, the product must be handled. As a result, minor marks or signs of handling may occasionally be visible. These do not affect the performance or usability of the dog flap.

Colour accuracy: Cream shades can vary between door, window and profile manufacturers. Screen settings, lighting conditions and differences between sprayed, foiled and factory-coloured surfaces can also affect how the colour appears.

The supplied finish is a plain sprayed Cream and may not exactly match cream foiled uPVC, composite doors or other factory-finished products.

If an exact colour match is essential, please consider this carefully before ordering.

Internal Slide-In Closing Panel

The Staywell 740 is supplied with an internal slide-in closing panel. This allows you to close the dog flap when you do not want your pet to use it.

The panel can also be useful during particularly cold or windy weather when you want the opening fully closed.

Important: Before cutting your door, make sure there is enough clear space above the pet door for the closing panel to slide upwards and be removed.

Fitting and Installation

Carefully check all measurements before cutting your door or panel. The required cut-out is approximately 281mm x 237mm.

When cutting the opening, we recommend keeping the hole no more than approximately 2mm larger than the required cut-out. The small remaining gap can then be sealed with suitable silicone to provide a neat, weather-resistant installation.

The supplied tunnel sections can be used to line the cut edge of suitable doors and panels. The tunnel sections are best secured using a suitable adhesive such as Stelmax contact adhesive.

A suitable neutral-cure silicone can be used between the door panel and pet door tunnel to help seal the installation and reduce draughts.

Installing Through a Wall

The PetSafe Staywell 740 can also be installed through a wall or thicker panel, although additional lining materials will normally be required.

The supplied tunnel sections are designed for installations up to approximately 2 inches / 50mm thick. For deeper walls or panels, an additional tunnel lining will need to be constructed.

Suitable materials such as uPVC soffit board or rigid sheet material can be used to form a neat passage through the opening.

Can It Be Fitted to a Composite Door?

Yes, the Staywell 740 can be fitted into many composite doors, but the construction and decorative mouldings of the door should be checked carefully before installation.

Raised mouldings can interfere with the pet door frame. You must also allow enough clearance above the dog flap for the internal closing panel to slide upwards.

The exposed edge of a cut composite door should be properly sealed against moisture. Where appropriate, trim, architrave or rigid angle can be used around the opening to create a neat, weather-resistant finish.

Important Safety & Security Notice

Pet doors of this size are not security devices and will not prevent a person from gaining access through the opening. Consider the security of other internal doors and avoid leaving keys or valuables within reach of the pet door.

Small children must also be considered. Children should be supervised where a pet door could provide access to an unsafe area.

Can the flap be replaced later?

Yes. The Staywell 700 Series has a replaceable flap design, allowing a worn or damaged flap to be changed without replacing the complete dog door.

Can it be installed through a wall?

Yes. Wall installation is possible, although an additional tunnel lining will normally be required for depths greater than the supplied tunnel.
